The example edits are slightly different from the tutorial below.

Clipping Magic gives you the unique capability of combining quick red / green marks with precision vector scalpel cuts, enabling you to clip any image even if the edges are too faint or noisy for the red / green algorithm to handle them gracefully.

To add a cut, select the scalpel then click and drag in the image where you'd like your cut to be made. The same tool also lets you edit the cuts.

Try it out, and look for the hover indicators to get previews of what will happen when you click!

Tip: Use cuts sparingly. It is normally best to use the red/green marks for the bulk of the clipping, and then add a few choice cuts where there's poor contrast. It is rare that you'd want to go whole-hog and add cuts along the entire outline.

Make A Cut

Select the scalpel, then click and drag in the image to make a cut.

Click and drag the darker center point to bend the curve.

Extend A Cut

Click and drag in the extend zone to add another piece to the cut.

Move Points

Click and drag on any point to move it.

The cuts start out as straight lines, and stay straight lines as long as you only move the end points.

Insert Points

Click on the green plus next to a darker point to insert two additional points.

This allows you to start out with long cuts, and then insert additional points where needed to follow the edge.

Delete Points

Click on the red x next to a point to delete it.

You get a preview of what will happen when you hover over the x: red parts will be deleted, green parts will be added.

Don't Cross The Cuts

Scalpel cuts that cross with themselves or other cuts will be gray and ignored. Move the cuts so that they don't actually cross to resolve the problem.
